Through the selection, judgment, and promotion of cinematic works by both aspiring and established filmmakers, we strive to establish an environment that uplifts each and every individual within our global cinematic community.

We want to change the culture of film festivals worldwide and foster an invigorating and novel approach to how filmmakers and audiences’ approach both cinematic works of art, and the institution of film festivals as a whole.

Our carefully elected judging body consists of industry veterans that uphold our values in the same ways that we do. We ensure the thorough and fair evaluation of all films selected by our governing body to be screened in our festival. No matter the size and scale of the production, Frankfurt Film Festival has a strong appetite for films that approach cinema through the lens of originality, providing thought-provoking themes that will stimulate and inspire us all.

Frankfurt Film Festival is proud to feature international distribution representation and national press attendance, allowing filmmakers admitted into our festival to gain the valuable exposure they need to elevate themselves further in their cinematic artistic pursuits. As it stands, Frankfurt Film Festival is a must-attend cultural event for filmmakers and other industry professionals looking to expand their horizons and grow within the expanding film industry, and for curious audience members looking to enjoy vibrant, exciting new cinema.

Our Rules and Guidelines for 2024 - 2025 Submissions:

Your submission implies that you have the legal right to represent and submit this project for consideration, along with your acceptance of Frankfurt Film Festival regulations.

✔️ All foreign-language films must be submitted with English subtitles

✔️ Features are any film over 30 mins. Short films are 30 mins and under.

✔️To submit a project, you must have created the project yourself, own the rights or have permission from the owner of the content to submit the film to us.

✔️ Projects must be completed on or after January 1, 2019 to be eligible for consideration at the 2023 Frankfurt Film Festival.

✔️ All submissions for Frankfurt Film Festival are to be paid through FilmFreeway platform. The submission fee is non-refundable. The same film can be entered into one or more categories, but each category requires an entry fee.

Best of Germany

Discounted fee is available for submissions that were both shot in Germany and come from a director with a current German address. Projects that meet BOTH qualifications can submit to the Best of Germany category. Any projects submitted to this category that have violated these terms will be disqualified and not refunded.
